The brother team of Daylan, 43, and Brendon Frost (opens in a new tab), 38, from Arizona, showcased their talents in the Ariat World Series of Team Roping Title Fights (opens in a new tab) XI #13.5 at the Team Roping Capital of the World’s Rancho Rio (opens in a new tab) arena in Wickenburg, Arizona, on Feb. 11, 2021.
The Frost brothers entered the short round at third callback with a time of 23.38 seconds on three head. They roped their fourth steer in 7.98 seconds, making them a total of 31.36 seconds on four head to win the roping, taking home $32,180.
“The steers were running hard, so I took an aggressive start and it just set it up,” Daylan said. “We were fast enough to be able to win.”
Daylan rode the mare that Brendon was riding when he won the Title Fights XI #15.5 Add-On with his cousin, Ty Frost, earlier that day—a 12-year-old they call Georgia.
“That horse is a winner, so why not just ride the winner,” Daylan said.
“I actually bought her from my uncle—the guys dad that I won the 15 with,” Brendon added. “I broke her. She’s been easy from the very beginning.”
Brenden hazed and pulled back on two feet on a 17-year-old mare named Uno—who is blind in her right eye.
“I bought from my other uncle,” Brenden said. “She’s the same way—easy to heel on. She’s old and she knows the pattern.”
Brenden knows how special it is to win, especially after winning $28,250 between the Title Fights XI #15.5 Add-On and the Title Fights #14.5 with his family.
“When you win with your family it’s always better,” Brenden admitted.
