Ariat WSTR Finale XX

A Legacy of Excellence

For two decades, the Ariat World Series of Team Roping Finale has defined excellence in the sport, setting the benchmark for both quality and prestige. Each year, this event establishes new record payouts and continues to stand as one of the most rewarding competitions in not just the team roping world but in all amateur athletics.

But record payouts are only part of the story. Whether you win or not, our goal is for every contestant to experience an event unlike any other: from the concierge service when you first pull in, to the electric atmosphere in the arenas, the best shopping in Vegas at the South Point trade show, and an easy, efficient team roping production from start to finish.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the entire staff of the South Point and WSTR, and to the loyal ropers who return year after year. We also offer a warm welcome to those competing in the Finale for the very first time. Whether you are a seasoned South Point veteran or a first-time participant, we encourage you to read this information thoroughly to ensure a successful and enjoyable week.

This year’s Finale introduces several noteworthy updates and operational changes, all designed to enhance efficiency, safety, and the overall experience for our participants and guests.

The Spirit of the Roping Community

The team roping community continues to lead recreational sports across the nation, with WSTR competitors recognized as some of the most active and dedicated athletes in the United States. The Finale will once again celebrate the title of the richest quarter horse event in the world, a reflection of the sport’s growth and the dedication of its participants.

We thank and commend the WSTR qualification contractors and local producers for their extraordinary efforts in providing high-quality opportunities throughout the year — particularly amid ongoing challenges related to cattle availability and high fuel prices. Their commitment ensures that every roper has access to exceptional, well-run events across the country to make their way to the Finale.

Looking back at the roster in year one, 2006, we are grateful for those who believed in the vision and became our first legacy ropers. We’ve lost some of those early supporters, but many of you are still roping, and we can’t wait to see you when we repost that first roster as a look back in the Finale Program.

(The Finale has been held every year since, with one exception: the 2020 Finale was cancelled due to COVID-19, which is why this year marks our 20th edition rather than our 21st)

Breaking Records Once Again

Each year we are humbled, and this year’s Finale is on track to make history once more, with an estimated $20 million in payouts and an additional $600,000 in prizes.
