Clyde Yarbrough (lovingly known as Papa Clyde) 85 of Almyra, AR died Monday June 22, 2026 in a hospital in Dewitt, AR.
He was born in Lordsburg, NM in 1940 and raised on the Yarbrough ranch in Animas, NM. While in college, Clyde met and married his 1st love Sharon Widner. They began their life together in Las Cruces, NM and had 4 beautiful daughters. After successfully graduating from NMSU, he became a respected employee with the USDA and retired as the Superintendent of the Jornada Experimental Range where he mentored generations of young people.
He was an accomplished team roper and calf roper and took every opportunity to share his knowledge with anyone who asked. In 2018 Clyde became a founding member of the Animas Gathering. The fellowship created by this group made him so very proud.
Clyde loved visiting and catching up with friends. He never met a stranger and would give you anything he had to give, including the hat off his head.
He was a loving father, husband and papa. As the years went by Clyde traveled countless miles to share special events with his daughters and his grand kids. Clyde filled his days working around his house in Almyra; repairing saddles, building roping dummies, and being with his beloved wife Dixie.
A celebration of life is planned for 9:00 am July 19, 2026 at the Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum in Las Cruces, NM.
Clyde is survived by his wife; Dixie Crow of Almyra, AR. As well as 4 daughters; Twyla Hooser of Las Cruces, Toy Yarbrough of Artesia. T'Lynn Neal and Son-in-law Ronald Neal of Las Cruces, Tess Yarbrough of Las Cruces, Laney Landon of Dewitt, AR & Zach Landon of Little Rock, AR. Clyde leaves behind 6 grandchildren, Callie Jackson (Matt), Sean Hooser (Mackenzi), Courtney Ramirez (Manny), Kelsey Bagwell (Ryan), Kaitlyn Watson (Huntor) and Logan Neal. Along with 6 great grand kids, Brooklyn, Brayden and Bryson Jackson, Kashley, Cooper & Kynleigh Ramirez and Bowen Bagwell.
Clyde is preceded in death by his 1st love, Sharon Yarbrough, his mother & father; Clayton and (Lillie) Marie Yarbrough, brother Clifford Yarbrough and sister, Rosie Mae Parsons.
