Troy Wayne Ragsdale, 56, of Waxahachie, Texas, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on May 27, 2026. He was born on July 10, 1969 in Silver City, New Mexico. Troy lived a life full of love, laughter, and devotion to his family.
Troy graduated from Lancaster High School in Lancaster, Texas in 1987 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics from Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas in 1991. His career began as an insurance adjuster, where he worked diligently for nearly two decades. Later in life, Troy embraced his entrepreneurial spirit by working for himself. He sold liquid cattle feed, shod horses, and took on various jobs around town—always finding ways to make money in the community. He was the world's best penny pincher!
Family was at the heart of Troy's life. He is survived by his significant other, Nicole Tango; his mother, Linda Walsh; his sister, Tammy Ragsdale (spouse Shannon Ragsdale); his children Faryn Rogers (spouse Taylor Rogers) and Tristan Ragsdale; and his beloved grandchildren Kynlee Rogers (10) and Kamden Rogers (7). He also leaves behind his nephew Chase Hamessley (spouse Kylie Hamessley), niece Madilyn Ragsdale, aunt Nancy Hennessey (spouse Ray Hennessey), uncles Billy Russell (spouse Sue Russell) and Ken Ragsdale (spouse Cheryl Ragsdale), and many cousins. Troy was preceded in death by his father Dennis Ragsdale; stepfather Lane Walsh; grandfathers Willie Russell and Harold Ragsdale; grandmothers Lola Russell and June Ragsdale; aunt Barbara Whitham; and best friend Timothy King.
Troy's greatest joy came from being a father and grandfather. He cherished every moment spent with his children and grandchildren, especially taking Kamden fishing and Kynlee to ride horses at the rodeo. He always ensured that they knew how deeply he loved them and how proud he was of their accomplishments. His big heart extended beyond family—he was known for helping anyone in need and bringing lighthearted humor wherever he went. Whether he was cutting up with his roping friends at a rodeo arena or being the life of the party singing Creed songs at karaoke, Troy's presence was unforgettable.
A man of Christian faith, Troy had a strong belief in God. One of his most treasured memories was helping baptize his son, Tristan.
Troy had a passion for roping and fishing that brought him peace and fulfillment. He also enjoyed cheering on the Dallas Cowboys (through both victories and defeats). Above all else, he valued time spent with family—creating memories that will be cherished forever.
Troy Wayne Ragsdale will be remembered for his unwavering love for those around him, his infectious laughter, and his generous spirit. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him and his legacy live on forever
