The Ariat World Series of Team Roping Finale hosted both the inaugural Riata Showcase Horse Sale and the second Riata Open to the World Finale Dec. 8, 2024, selling some of the best horses in the rope horse industry and paying out $363,000 to Open ropers in the same day.
Turner Performance Horses' Sue Bama, a 2016 gelding by Bamacat out of Better Sue by Bet On Me and A&C Racing and Roping's Runnnin Winners, a 2021 mare by Winners Version out of Running Corona by Corona Cartel, topped the sale at $200,000 a piece. (Sale averages and full results coming soon.)
The South Point and WSTR quickly transformed the sale arena back into a competition arena to kick off the Riata Open to the World, where the high call team of New Mexico's Korbin Rice and New York's Jake Edwards secured the win with a time of 38.09 on five head, worth $111,500 for first against some of the best teams in the sport.
