As a World Series team roper, the words "I'm going to put a flatbed on this truck." has come out of your mouth more than once over the years. From crawling over the box sides to hook up chains, to throwing small squares and large round bales in the back, to hauling the 4-wheeler to the shop for a tune up; every one of us has wished we had a good-looking flatbed on our truck.
Starting in July the Ariat World Series of Team Roping and Butler Beds are joining forces to bring affordable, great looking, and highly functional truck beds to the WSTR team roper!
"I truly can't believe a truck bed company hasn't been part of the World Series of Team Roping until now." Says Matt Smith, Territory Salesman for Butler Beds which is a subsidiary of Harper Industries out of Harper, Kansas. "Round-bales and large-squares are becoming more and more prevalent everywhere it seems and it doesn't matter if you have fifteen steers to feed or you are feeding fifty round bales a day, you need an easy, convenient, and, not to mention, sharp looking way to move those bales."
Butler Beds, originally based out of Bixby, Oklahoma keeps it simple and functional with three main lines of products: Regular flat beds, bale spike beds, and arm beds.
"Butler Beds has a niche all to its own in the bale bed and flatbed business. We use heavier steel then some of our competitors, our electric over hydraulic systems are basically maintenance free and extremely reliable even in the cold northern winter months, and best of all Butler Beds fall at a price point that doesn't break the bank." Says Drew Gerber of the parent company - Harper Industries. "That's what our goal has been with this brand since day one - The absolute best and most reliable bed for your buck."
Butler arm beds can squeeze and lift two round bales side by side or set one in the bed and pack one at the same time. The arms fold down flat against the sides so hooking up to your trailer and heading to the roping is not a problem. The spike beds offer an easy to detach and stow system right in the back of the bed which turns the hay hauler into a horse hauler in about 30 seconds.
"What's cools is we have WSTR ropers like Miles Baker who use our beds every day to feed horses and cows and then he hooks his Bloomer trailer up and heads over to Trevor's or to the next roping. Our beds compliment a pickup and trailer but also are a little ranchy too!" said Matt.
