Stephen Monroe Brock was born on March 1, 1945, to Esther (Newcomer) Brock, and George Edwin Brock Sr., in Sheridan Wyo.
Steve passed away on May 11, 2022 as a result of a horse accident, his daughter was by his side, he was doing what he loved up until his last breath. Steve is probably riding colts up in Heaven as we speak and we are at peace knowing he died knowing Jesus Christ as his Lord and savior%u2026he went out in style and with his boots on.
Steve grew up in Ashland Montana until the family moved back to Buffalo, Wyo. Steve's Grandparents and Uncles, The Brock's, homesteaded in Kaycee, Wyo in the late 1800s. He worked on the Paradise Ranch , The Tipperary Ranch in Johnson County, and the 63 Ranch in Livingston MT, during the summers of his high school years as well as The Dairy Queen in Livingston with his brother Bruce. He graduated from Johnson County High School in Buffalo Wyoming, in 1963. After graduation he went into the U.S. Air Force from 1964-1967, stationed in Duluth, Minn. Steve was a SRG in the Air Force. There he met and married Sherry Brophy, in 1966. They had two children, Jean Marie Brock and Kelly James Brock. They moved to Livingston, Montana and ranched on the Hodge Place then later moving to Glendive, Montana. Steve and Sherry later divorced.
Steve worked as a barber in Glendive and loved to visit with people and tell stories as he cut their hair. He met Kaleen Switzer at a square dance, in 1973. They married in 1974, Steve sold Farm Bureau Insurance and later worked for MDU as a dispatcher. Steve and Kaleen had two girls, Mika Tempie and Teka Jo who grew up in Glendive and loved horses as much as their Mom and Dad. Steve raised horses, and broke and trained them with his daughters. He also loved to team rope. He taught his girls many things about breaking colts and roping. Steve and Kaleen later divorced. He then went to work for various ranches in Idaho, California and Montana living his last couple years with his daughter Teka and son in law Toby and their children in Billings, MT. Steve loved following his grandkids many successes in and out of the rodeo arena and was enjoying a bit of team roping himself again.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents George Sr and Esther Brock, his brothers, Bruce Brock and George Brock Jr. and son Kelly Brock. As well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. The Brock and Newcomer families love history and always had a good time getting together and visiting.
Steve is survived by daughter Jean Brock and daughters, Mika Leno(James) and Teka Larson (Toby). His grandchildren, Michael Brock, Teegan, Tavy, & Tate Leno, Jessa, Kenna, and Willa Larson. His sister in law Mardella Brock. His nieces and nephews, Bill (Stephanie) Brock, Chuck (Dena) Brock Melanie (Todd) Kipfer, Neil (Annette) Brock, Paul (Shereen) Brock, and Carol (Larry) Berg. And numerous nieces and nephews.
