It is with very deep sadness that the Garza Family announce the passing of their beloved, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and dear friend, JESUS "JESSE' OR "PAPASON" EDEN GARZA on Wednesday, January 3, 2024. "Jesse" or "Papason," as he was fondly known to family and friends was born August 16, 1960, in Mesa, Arizona to Homero and Elmina Ramos Garza.
Jesse had a passion for horses and was a member of the World Series of Team Roping, as well as the U.S. Team Roping Championship. The love, pride, and joy of Jesse life was his family, children, and grandchildren, but especially his great-grandchildren. He will be remembered for his great personality, contagious laugh, and the jokester that he was. Jesse will be missed by all.
Those left to mourn his passing include his loving wife of 45 years, Linda "Wendy" Martinez Garza; three sons, Jesse Garza (Melisa) of Chamberino, Nano Garza (Jamie Collins) of Cave Creek, AZ, and Sonny Garza (Yvette) of Brazito; daughter, Crystal Medina (Armando) of Las Cruces; two brothers, Homero Garza Jr., (Sue) of Mesquite and Adriel Garza (Maria) of San Miguel; three sisters, Laura Valenciano (Johnny) of Queen Creek, AZ, Elmina "Mina" Herrera (Andy) of Mesquite and Leticia Garza-Camunez of La Mesa; a brother-in-law, Arnold Zambrano of Casa Grande, AZ. Other survivors include 14 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jesse was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Yolanda Zambrano; two nephews, Homer Garza III., and Andres Zambrano.
Visitation for Jesse will begin at 2:30 PM Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, 1240 S. Espina Street with the Prayer Vigil at 3:30 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately thereafter. At his request cremation will follow and Inurnment of cremains will be held at a later date at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, alongside his beloved parents.
Serving as casket bearers will be Oscar Lucero, Sr., David Morales, Paul Melendrez, Rolo Minjarez, Jody Fernandez, and Sam Gonzales. Honorary bearers will be Jesse's, Godchildren, Esteven Herrera, Jesse Rodriguez, Martin Garces, Jacob, Justin, Tiffany, Bridget, and Josiah Rodriguez.
