C.W. (Dub) Morris of Deming, New Mexico passed away to be with his Lord and Savior on June 3, 2023 surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Dub was born in Ruidoso, New Mexico on March 17, 1974 to Charles J. Morris and Susan A. Payton. He would spend his summers riding and roping with his grandpa and cousins. He was a 1992 graduate from Deming High School and played Wildcat football (#42). He later attended and committed to rodeo for Cochise College. He continued traveling and winning numerous ropings and also enjoyed competing in ranch rodeos for Hatchet Ranch. But most of all enjoyed the friendships that never ended. He became a mentor and instructor for many young and aspiring ropers. Dub became an Apprentice Lineman and earning his Journeyman Lineman card working for Columbus Electric. He continued educating himself and became a Journeyman Lineman Foreman for PNM. He dedicated over 20 years of his life to keeping the power on. In 2017 he began his life-long enjoyment of ranching. This is a tradition that he instilled in all his kids and grandkids.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather (papa), cousin, and friend. While we thought we would have more time his condition worsened quickly and the Lord called him home. He will be missed dearly by those who knew him and loved him.
Dub is survived by his beloved wife Susanna Morris; instilled valuables into children Jazmyne Lopez (Rafael Lopez), Megan Hartman (Matt Hartman), Gregory Mariscal (Ashley Carreon), Roy Dustin Gunter (MariahLee Kayitah), Chance Morris, and Vari Mariscal; Grandchildren Ethan Lopez, Damien Kayitah, Benjamin Gustafson, RaeLynn Kayitah, Mason Hartman, Melanie Hartman, Royce Gunter, and Avery Mariscal (Double A), EverLynn Kayitah, Cousins Michelle Wilbanks (Lance) and Tonya Sandoval (Jesus).
Dub is preceded in death by his father Charles J. Morris, his mother Susan A. Payton, grandparents Roy and Marjorie Payton, uncles Buddy Payton, Fred Payton and cousin Jacque Leslie.
