Cecil Alvin Nichol, beloved figure in the rodeo and construction communities, passed away at the age of 91. Born on July 26, 1934, in Chico, California, to Cecil Elmer and Ruby Nichol. Cecil was preceded in death by the love of his life, Carol, in 2023, his younger brother Jerry, in 2018, and his older brother Don, who died at birth.
Cecil was always with his childhood friends, Ron Kofford and Wayne Williamson, and together thet embarked on many adventures. Cecil's journey took him from Shasta High School to Anderson High School, where basketball and roping became his passions. Cecil honed his skills in roping, creating a foundation for a rodeo career that saw him compete at events all over the nation. Cecil's love for the sport never waned.
On June 1, 1960, Cecil married Carol, on a Wednesday, as to not interfere with his rodeo schedule, and together they built a family, welcoming Terri, Tracy, and Bob by 1965. They also built a legacy in construction, developing notable projects like the Gateway Shopping Center in Anderson and the Holiday Shopping Center in Cottonwood. Cecil also built his and Carol's forever home in 19744 on Green Acres Drive - and the home is still as beautiful as it was the day he built it.
In retirement, Cecil and Carol embraced the snowbird lifestyle and also followed their kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to every event under the sun. Cecil's enduring spirit and love for life were evident in every endeavor; age never hindered him in any way. He was a man who transcended generations, finding joy on the back of a horse and in the company of those he loved. Cecil's legacy of resilience, humor, and dedication will forever be cherished by his family and friends.
