Sparky Stephens, of Hereford, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022.
Sparky Stephens was born July 17, 1946 in Great Bend, Kansas whose parents were Billy Joe and Bernice Stephens. He grew up working on ranches with his family which lead them to Slaton, Tx when he was in the 8th grade. This is where he met the love of his life, Pam Davis. He was then drafted into the U. S. Army and served in Vietnam. Soon after his return to Slaton in 1967, he married his sweetheart Pam on July 13, 1968. Most who know our Sparky well, know he was an avid team roper with so many successful runs, including U. S. Finals Championship in 1994 and the World Series of Team Roping Championship in 2010, but nothing was more important to Sparky than being the proud father of his one and only son, Billy Joe, who was named after Sparky's father. Sparky loved spending time with Pam, his son Billy, doing anything outdoors including watching sports, roping, and truly just soaking up quality time. He was then blessed with his two beautiful grandchildren, Hadley and Hannah, and with them he continued to create those memories fishing, camping, mountain trail riding and spending as much time as he could showing them love. Sparky's legacy can truly be described with word's of the Lee Brice song, Love like crazy "Be a best friend, tell the truth, Go to work, do your best, don't outsmart your common sense, never let your praying knees get lazy and love like crazy!" Thank you Sparky Stephens for being an amazing husband, father, granddad and friend and for loving us like crazy.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and his step-father, D. T. Reed (Wiggie)
Sparky is survived by his wife, Pam of Hereford; his son, Billy and his wife, Amy of Idalou; and his grandchildren, Hadley Stephens and Hannah Stephens.
