Rickey Green: 1957-2018

Rickey Green passed away peacefully at home in Morgan Mill, Texas, on October 10 after a brief bout with leukemia. Born July 4, 1957, Rickey was renowned as one of the original team roping gunslingers, and later earned a reputation as one of the best known teachers of team roping. His career highlights included 10 trips to the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, the 1988 NFR average title with Charles Pogue, and the win at the 1984 Bob Feist Invitational Team Roping Classic heeling for the late Mark Arnold. Rickey is survived by his wife, Kelly; their daughter, Whitney; his dad, Virgil; four sisters; and many other family members and close friends. There will be no memorial services, per Rickey’s wishes. The Green family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund.
