M L Wimberly 1945 - 2016

A resident of Tolar, M.L. passed away at his home the evening of December 22. If you knew M.L., you know how much his family meant to him. M.L. most loved spending every day working with his wife, Christi, and daughter, Cheyenne, and the feeling was mutual. If you look up the term “close knit family” in the dictionary, M.L., Christi, and Cheyenne’s picture will probably be there.

A well-known and respected cowboy, horseman, innovator, saddle maker, and friend to all, M.L. spread his work ethic, sense of humor, appreciation for great horses, and love of all things cowboy to anyone fortunate enough to spend time around him. Not huge by physical standards, but the energy he put forth on a daily basis could power the state.

M.L. leaves a legacy of a life lived well by cowboy standards. After competing in rodeos early on, he found his niche with starting colts and training race horses for himself as well as hall of famers in the equine racing and rodeo world, including his daughter, herself a National Finals Rodeo qualifier. He is the founder of Cowboy Classic Saddlery, a family owned and run industry leader in custom western and trophy saddles. He spent years producing and competing in team roping events and always enjoyed trading suitable horses for many disciplines across the continent of North America.

M.L. leaves behind a legacy of family and friends who will enjoy a treasury of fond memories for having known him.
