The Wrangler World's Greatest Roper (WWGR) presented by the Silver Legacy Resort Casino moved west from Oklahoma to Reno, Nevada this weekend where the top 20 timed event cowboys in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) competed for the prestigious title of the World's Greatest Roper.
K.C. Jones of Burlington, Wyoming took home the lions share of the money and the Gold Buckle by winning his first WWGR title.
Jones, a four-time Wrangler Timed Event Champion, bested a field of ropers representing 40 world champion-ship titles. Jones was solid and stayed consistent through the event that featured the most exciting WWGR since the events creation in 2006. Jones qualified for the event short round along with a "who's who" of rodeo lore that included eight-time PRCA World Champion Trevor Brazile of Decatur, Texas; Canadian Champion Tie-Down Roper Marty Becker of Empress, Alberta, Canada; the reigning PRCA World Champion Team Roper Chad Masters of Clarksville, Tenn.; and the two-time, defending champion World's Greatest Roper Daniel Green of Oakdale, Calif.
