Are the hotel rooms completely full?

Yes and no. The hotel is completely booked on the 10th and 11th, but one of the groups using the hotel has their big day Tuesday the 10th, and it is hoped they will not use all of the rooms they reserved and/or that many of them will leave early. We filled the initial 800 rooms they offered for our group, but they are advising ropers to get on the waiting list. The interpretation is that they have more rooms available in another event block and will release more rooms in November. Last year we advised that hotels were tight in Las Vegas, but that is not the case this year. Vegas is in a full blown recession and you will find rooms available at nearly every hotel, priced right I might add. We have been hearing talk of $45 rooms at some major hotels.

The World Series of Team Roping Finale II

December 14th, 2007

Generally every roping story line starts out with the same theme “bigger and better.” But bigger and better is a little redundant for the World Series of Team Roping. Last year during its inaugural Finale Event the WS payoff surpassed every single roping in the United States except the Reno Invitational. Continuing to rise, the two "Big " ropings, the #11 Finale and the #10 Finale, rose from $570,000 and $590,000 to $650,000 each, with its national ranking splitting 2nd and 3rd behind Reno. The #14 Pro-Am Finale was added this year and was limited to 170 teams for a $406,000 payoff; achieving 10th in the national purse rankings without even trying.
