1. Question: Can we get our stalls a day or two earlier?
We have made arrangements with Greg Kesler, Double Dollar Sale to handle those of you that want to come in early. There is an exception so read to the end. We will provide Greg with our stall list and our stall numbers. When you arrive early you will pay Double Dollar for the nights you will be there and directed to the stalls you will occupy during the entire World Series Roping. The exception is that Greg's sale horses will be occupying about 300 stalls and if your World Series stall is one of those 300, you are out of luck and will have to make other arrangements somewhere else prior to Tuesday December 9th. Please let us know if you think you might be arriving a few days early and we will attempt to keep you away from the Double Dollar 300.
2. What Happens when you run out of stalls?
It is going to happen this year. Connie and I would love for everyone to get into the hotel and to get a stall next to the arena. But the truth is that a lot of the end of the year qualifying teams and last minute planners will just not make it in. We are trying to find the private stall rentals close to South Point and there are several hundred stalls at Horseman's Park. In fact, last year over half the #14 teams stayed out there. Most of those ropers were only in town for a day or two and couldn't average out their stall costs. I expect the same thing to happen this year with the #13 ropers. With additional parking it will be easier to have them pull through and unload horses before proceeding to the trailer parking area.
3. Can I get a refund if I don't make the short round and want to go home?
We made no secret of the fact that South Point charges us a flat fee for stalls. They simply count dirty stalls and bill us accordingly. The price is the same for us whether you stay one night or five nights, so therefore the one and two night stall people are essentially subsidized by the four and five nighters. This is the reason for the three night minimum this year. We certainly don't want to make money off your stalls, but by the same token we don't want to pay for your stalls.
4. If we decide to stall at another location and trailer over, will there be enough parking this year?
The construction is over and the hotel has promised to build 7 more acres of trailer parking. Nevertheless, since more ropers are only entering one division, there will be more trailers.
